The other day, my son and I got out the rock hammer and went to town on a chuck of rock with a quart vein in it, hoping there was some gold in there somewhere.
We had fun smashing up the rock and it was a good arm workout, but, alas, no gold in the quartz vein. Not surprising of course as there was nothing visible, but sometimes you just need to check to assuage your curiosity. I found the rock in an area with placer gold, so the gold has to come from somewhere right.
I am no geologist and have a lot to learn about gold ore/hard rock prospecting, but was still a good bonding experience with my son.
Thanks for coming by today,
